Her throat burns, dry as if she’s swallowed dust. She wonders how long she can resist. Her eyes turn dark as the pulse of the tiny creature in her palms pumps faster and faster. The sound is intoxicating.
A voice, smooth as velvet, snakes through the silence, "You’ll have to feed eventually."
